Founded in Chennai, India, Akku is named after a special character from the Tamil alphabet (ஃ) that is often drawn as a protective symbol, bringing together energies and vibrations to cleanse and shield a space.
The name Akku has cultural and real-world significance in our mission to help businesses ward off bad actors and protect their technology environments.
Akku exists because the same conversation kept happening.
The team behind it spent years helping businesses move to the cloud and modernise how they operated. Different industries, different sizes, different problems on paper. But somewhere in every engagement the same thing surfaced: nobody could say with confidence who had access to what. Applications each held their own list of users. People who had left were still in systems. Access granted for a project three years ago was still live, and no one remembered granting it.
These were not exotic problems and they were not one customer's bad luck. They were everyday, and as more of the business moved to the cloud they were becoming universal.
So Akku was built to solve them: workforce identity and access management, for the businesses that needed that control most and could least justify what enterprise identity vendors were charging for it.
Everything since has arrived the same way. Granting access led to governing it, and identity governance followed. Governing access to applications led to the machines people open them on, and endpoint and mobile device management followed. Controlling who could reach data led to controlling where the data went, and data loss prevention followed. The accounts that can change or destroy anything needed handling differently from everyone else's, and privileged access management followed. Not one of those was a roadmap decision. Each one was a customer saying this is the next thing we cannot solve.
In 2024 Akku was established as its own company to build and sell the platform as a business in its own right. It runs today in production across a range of industries, from real estate to IT services and financial services, sold through a network of partners and managed service providers who hold the customer relationship. Extending that network is the work in front of the company now.

CEO and Founder
Madhav founded Akku when cloud adoption was accelerating and control over cloud environments was becoming a problem businesses could name but not solve. With a finance degree from Purdue, he had already built and scaled several technology businesses before starting this one. Which is why Akku is designed around real-world conditions: what a mid-market IT team can actually deploy and operate, rather than what a feature list can claim. He runs the company, sets its direction and owns the partner strategy that takes it to market, and he has pushed AI into how Akku itself operates, from how the product gets built to how the business is run.

CTO
More than two decades of building and running enterprise systems, across ERP, BFSI, hospitality and healthcare, took Satyadev from developer at FCS Software Solutions to product management at Raqmiyat and senior technical management at Nihilent. He has led Akku's engineering since its inception, and it is his work that turned IAM, IGA, UEM, DLP and PAM into one integrated platform rather than five products sharing a name. He owns the platform's architecture and its direction, including the work now underway to put AI into how threats are detected, at the point of access and long after it.
